Terms & Conditions

 The following terms and conditions apply to all purchases placed through guldsmedenhotels.com as well as purchases placed at Guldsmeden hotels locations that include:

1. Payment

 Payment is settled in the currency of the country in which your stay at a Guldsmeden hotel is located. This means that payment is settled for a Guldsmeden hotel as follows: 

  • Denmark, payment is made in DKK
  • Norway, payment is made in NOK
  • Germany, payment is made in EUR
  • France, payment is made in EUR, etc.

 Prices in your local currency are only indicative of the purchase price. 

1.1 Booking reservation with credit- or debit card

Guldsmeden Hotels reserves the right to pre-authorize your credit or debit card prior to your arrival. The amount will not be charged to your credit or debit card unless you book a “non-refundable stay” or if a “payment link” is sent from our booking department. Your credit or debit card is used solely as a guarantee for the booking.

If you use a debit card, the bank may reserve the amount for up to 30 days. If you would like the amount released before the end of the 30 days, please contact the hotel directly with your reservation number and we will help release the money. However, Guldsmeden Hotels can only inform your bank of the desire to release the reserved amount through the payment provider. It is the bank’s decision to cancel the reserved amount.

Debit cards include Visa Electron, Maestro and MasterCard Direct.

1.2 Presentation of ID card

The first and surname on the reservation must match the guest’s ID card and credit or debit card, which must be presented upon request at check-in. 

2. Cancellation of reservation

A booking with Guldsmeden Hotels is binding ones confirmed, and you have received a booking reference. Confirmation can be given verbally, in writing or via our booking system. When you book your stay, you must provide your email address in order to receive your booking confirmation. 

It is possible to cancel your booking in accordance with the confirmation sent at the time of booking without additional fees or costs for the cancellation. This does not apply to ”non-refundable stays”. 

If you wish to cancel a booking within the deadline, please contact the reception at the booked hotel, who will help with your cancellation. If the cancellation deadlines have been exceeded, a fee will be charged according to the booking conditions stated in the booking confirmation. 

In the event of a ”no-show”, Guldsmeden Hotels reserves the right to charge the first night to the card provided. Subsequent nights associated with the no-show booking will be cancelled. Remember to cancel or change your booking before the deadline to avoid a fee. 

2.1 Spa & Restaurant reservations

Prepaid spa access and table reservations in a Guldsmeden Hotels restaurant can be cancelled up to 24 hours before arrival. In case of no-show or late cancellation, the customer cannot claim a refund. 

3. Return of goods and costs

If you have purchased a physical item at one of the Guldsmeden Hotels and you find yourself regretting the purchase of the item, you must send or hand over the item to the place where you purchased it without undue delay and no later than 14 days after you have notified us hereof. 

Items cannot be sent as cash on delivery or without delivery distribution. You must pay for the return of the item yourself. 

We reserve the right to refuse the return of items, i.e. so your right of withdrawal is waived, if you have broken the seal or packaging of the purchased item. 

4. If a purchased item is defect

The Danish Sales Act applies if you buy a product and there is a defect in the purchased product. A defect is, for example, a material or manufacturing defect or incorrect information about what you have purchased. Normal wear and tear or self-inflicted damage is not considered a defect. 

If you have a defect product, you must inform us hereof within a reasonable time after you discovered the defect. If you contact us within 2 months after you have discovered the defect, your complaint will always be considered timely, provided that you make a complaint before the expiry of the two-year complaint period. 

We kindly ask you to provide as much detail as possible about the problem/defect, and, if necessary, send pictures of the defect. Please contact the reception where you purchased the product. 

5. Complaints

It is important to us that you are satisfied with your stay. Should any problems or deficiencies arise during your stay, feel free to contact the Hotel reception, who will help clarify any deficiencies or misunderstandings, and be of help. 

If we cannot come to an understanding, you have the following complaints options: You can contact the Danish Complaints Board for Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism via www.hrt-ankenaevn.dk or via europa.eu/. 

6. Other Terms

6.1 Gift Voucher

A Guldsmeden Hotels gift voucher is valid at all Guldsmeden hotels located in Copenhagen, Berlin and Oslo. Gift vouchers can be used as payment for a stay, a product or a visit to one of our restaurants at Bryggen Guldsmeden, Axel Guldsmeden and Manon les Suites. 

The full amount of the gift voucher must be used in a single transaction and cannot be exchanged for cash value. 

Gift vouchers cannot be used for online prepayment. Instead, the voucher must be brought to the hotel reception and presented at check-in. 

Please note that gift vouchers cannot be used for stays at Eyja Guldsmeden, John & Will Silo- Hotel, or Chapung Sebali in Bali, Indonesia. 

Gift vouchers purchased through Guldsmeden Hotels are not digital/electronic gift vouchers and are therefore not subject to the rules for electronic gift vouchers. 

6.2 Your Stay

Prices and general terms and conditions on the website apply only to individual reservations. All prices are stated per room, per night, including service and VAT (VAT rate depends on the country in which the booked hotel is located). Please note that certain offers cannot be cancelled, refunded or changed. 

When changing reservations, Guldsmeden Hotels reserves the right to adjust prices. Reservations cannot be transferred to other hotels. 

When booking more than 5 rooms in the same period, the booking is considered a group booking. This may result in changes to prices and conditions. The hotel will send a group contract that must be signed to confirm the reservation. 

If a hotel is overbooked, Guldsmeden Hotels reserves the right to send the guest to another hotel of at least the same hotel category and quality. 

6.3 Check-in and check-out

The room is at your disposal from the check-in time on the day of arrival until check-out time on the day of departure. If the departure time is not kept, the hotel reserves the right to charge you for the room rate of an additional night according to the current price list. 

If check-in is not made on the date of arrival (“no-show”), the right to use the room for the remaining nights booked is waived. If you wish to use the reservation after the original arrival date, it is your responsibility to contact the hotel no later than at the originally planned check-in date. This must be done in writing (via email) and applies to all reservation types. 

6.4 Guests under 18 years of age

Guests under the age of 18 must always be accompanied by an adult during the stay at the hotel.

6.5 Card fees

Please note that fees may be charged when paying with certain credit and debit cards.

6.6 Regarding events

Tickets purchased for events are only refunded in the event of cancellation. Refunds will be made to the payment card used for purchase. Please note that ticket fees and any shipping costs are not refundable.

6.7 Lost items, valuables, vandalism etc

Selected hotels offer the option of storing your luggage in a locked luggage room. Do not leave luggage or valuables unattended in the lobby or other public areas of the hotel when checking in or out, when having breakfast, or when waiting for a taxi. For security reasons, the hotel is not obliged to store items of great value or items that may endanger the safety of our hotel staff and guests. The hotel is not fully responsible for belongings stored in your hotel room, lockers and luggage room. 

Valuables and/or luggage left or forgotten in rooms and/or hotel areas will be stores for up to one (1) month after departure. Items can be returned for a handling fee of DKK 100,00, plus shipping costs. Each room includes a safe for storing valuables. Despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee the prevention of loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings. We recommend not bringing irreplaceable valuables. Guldsmeden Hotels accepts liability only where legally required, such as in cases of proven negligence. 

Guldsmeden Hotels cannot be held responsible for vandalism or theft of/in any parked vehicle on the hotel’s grounds or parking areas. 

If a guest has mail or packages delivered to the hotel without prior written agreement with the hotel, the mail and/or packages are received at their own responsibility and risk.

6.8 House rules during your stay 

  • Room photos: Images on our site represent room types and may not reflect your exact room as lay-out may vary. 
  • Outside food and drink: Only allowed for medical reasons. 
  • Noise: Please respect fellow guests and maintain low volume levels. We reserve the right to remove guests for disturbance. 
  • Smoking: Not allowed anywhere inside the property. Cleaning fees apply for breaches 
  • Pets: 1 pet per room is welcome in selected rooms only. Not permitted in restaurant and bar area. A pet fee applies per night. Additional fees may apply in case of damage or disturbance.
  • Accidents and injuries: Any incidents must be reported to staff immediately, and no later than 24 hours afterwards. 
  • Misconduct: We reserve the right to remove guests for inappropriate or illegal behaviour. 
  • Room damage or loss: Any costs related to damages or missing items of the room will be charged to the guests’ card. 
  • Parking: Please ask in advance as availability varies by property. 
  • False Fire Alarm Activations: If a fire alarm is set off without a real emergency (e.g., due to smoking, steam, or misuse), any fees from emergency response services will be passed on to the responsible guest. 
  • Media and guest privacy: For guest safety and discretion, Guldsmeden Hotels maintains a no press/media policy. Sharing or publishing the presence or activities of other guests or private events without permission is strictly forbidden.
  • We’re always happy to welcome children and families at Bryggen Guldsmeden. To keep things comfortable for everyone, we ask that parents help ensure that the little ones are considerate of our other guests, and keep the sounds and activity at a thoughtful level.
  • To ensure the most enjoyable time for all at the pool at Bryggen Guldsmeden, we have reserved the early hours of the morning and evening for adults only (15+ yrs). Children below the age of 15 can enjoy the pool between 9.00 in the morning and 18.00 in the late afternoon – of course under adult supervision and with full consideration for other guests

6.9 False activation of fire alarm 

In the event of a fire alarm being activated without a genuine emergency that leads to unnecessary dispatch of the fire department or other authorities, the hotel reserves the right to charge the responsible guest for the actual costs incurred. The guest will therefore be held financially accountable for the expenses arising from any unnecessary response and intervention. This applies particularly in cases where the alarm is triggered due to smoking in the room, excessive steam from the shower, or other negligent behaviour. 

7. Force majeure 

In the event of force majeure and force majeure-like situations, Guldsmeden Hotels reserves the right to cancel reservations without prior notice. Force majeure is considered to be extraordinary circumstances that are beyond the direct control of Guldsmeden Hotels. This includes, among others, fire, water damage, strike, but also circumstances such as natural disasters and war. The list is not exhaustive. 

8. Legal framework for the Terms & Conditions

8.1. Data 

All personal information is managed according to Guldsmeden Hotels Privacy Policy. 

8.2 Partial invalidity 

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions shall yet remain valid and in full effect. 

8.3 Delayed enforcement 

Guldsmedens failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these terms immediately shall not constitute a waver of such right or provision.

8.4 Legal jurisdiction 

These terms are governed by Danish law. However, consumers residing in other EU countries may also enjoy the protection afforded to them by mandatory provisions of their national consumer protection laws.
